Do you have an interest in place-names and the landscape around you?

Ainmean-Àite na h-Alba (AÀA), the national advisory partnership for Gaelic place-names in Scotland, with support from Bòrd na Gàidhlig is looking to recruit up to four fieldworkers across Scotland in Gaelic speaking communities to collect Gaelic place-names in their local area.
A keen interest in local history/place-names and reasonable fluency in Gaelic are essential.
A training day (date and location tbc) and follow-up support will be given (including expenses).
Fieldworkers will be employed on a freelance basis for a period of 20 days over 10 weeks, with flexible working hours. We aim to commence the fieldwork by the middle of August.
Fieldworkers should be able to secure a minimum of two informants. Other responsibilities will include:
- Determining grid references
- Collating research into a spreadsheet
- Transcriptions of interviews
If you are interested, or would like a little more information, please contact us directly at oifis@ainmean-aite.scot.
Applications in the form of a cover letter and CV should be submitted by Friday 5th July 2019.
