AÀA Membership
AÀA is primarily funded by Bòrd na Gàidhlig for a large portion of its core capacity, and although this does not mean AÀA’s services are free of charge, it does allow the us to provide our services at a greatly reduced rate.
Buying into the AÀA membership scheme is an option open to any organisation/project wishing to use our services. Review of membership level should take place and be agreed one to two months before your membership is due for renewal.
Detailed below are the benefits of each level of membership.
Level 1: Tom – £2,000 per annum
Tom members would receive the first 75 place-names (9 more than the commercial rate) researched and proofed free of charge. The commercial rate will apply thereafter.
Level 2: Meall – £3,000 per annum
Meall members would receive the first 114 place-names (14 more than the commercial rate) researched and proofed free of charge. The commercial rate will apply thereafter.
Level 3: Càrn – £4,000 per annum
Càrn members would receive the first 152 place-names (19 more than the commercial rate) researched and proofed free of charge. The commercial rate will apply thereafter.
Level 4: Beinn – £5,000 per annum
Beinn members would receive the first 191 place-names (24 more than the commercial rate) researched and proofed free of charge. The commercial rate will apply thereafter.

Commercial Rates
£30 per place-name researched
Place-names we have not previously researched, or alternative versions of place-names we have previously researched such as genitive forms and place-names as part of other text.
£15 per place-name proofed
Place-names we have previously researched – checking for errors, typos etc.
However, we do advise that membership be considered if you have a minimum of 50 names requiring research.
Daily rates
If you require any copy writing, would like us to conduct a training event or to give a talk our daily rates are as follows:
Full day = £250.00
Half day or evening = £125.00
Specialist talks will incur a preparation fee.
Any travel outwith our local area (50m radius), will incur a charge.
