Additional Information
See the Watson article for discussion. He says the meaning of agaidh is uncertain, but it appears in Avielochan and Gallovie. It seems there are two forms here, Agaidh Mhòr and An Aghaidh Mhòr. It seems likely that the earlier version has been reinterpreted from the obscure element agaidh, with no article, to the transparent, An Aghaidh Mhòr, ‘the big face or slope’.
