Support a specific place-name in Ainmean-Àite na h-Alba’s database.
How does it work?
Place-names need to be researched before they are entered into our Database, however our research time is not fully funded. We therefore require additional support to pay for our research time. This is where you can help.
If you are interested in place-names and want to support the growth of our database you can make a donation towards the research of a specific Gaelic place-name. This can be through a one off or annual contribution in support of Gaelic place-name research throughout Scotland.
You can choose which area we research or the type of place-name we research, such as a settlement, loch, mountain or skerry. It’s up to you! Of course you can also leave the decision up to us.
Every £30.00 helps us research one place-name, but smaller contributions are also greatly appreciated.
One off donation towards Gaelic place-name research
Annual subscription towards Gaelic place-name research
Sponsor the research of one place-name: £30
Sponsor the research of two place-names: £60
Sponsor the research of three place-names: £90
Every supporter will receive a personalised email with our annual e-newsletter about the supported place-names and the progress of the database, normally distributed in April. Your name will also appear in the list of annual sponsors at the bottom of the e-newsletter and on our website, unless you prefer to remain anonymous. If your adoption is a gift please let us know and we can arrange a special gift package.
