Description
This guide to the place-names of Inverness and the surrounding area celebrates the cultural and natural heritage of the Highland capital by identifying and explaing the meaning behind many of the area’s place-names. It was researched and written by the award-winning local broadcaster and storyteller Roddy (Ruairidh) Maclean, whose work centres on the connections between the Gaelic language and Scotland’s environment. The booklet is free and available as a PDF download: Place-Names of Inverness of Inverness and Surrounding Area. There are also a limited number of hard copies available free of charge, which we can post out to you for the appropriate postage fee.
