There are a number of places deriving from this element. For example, Middle Inens in Cowal and Innean Glen in Kintyre. Robertson also gives na h-aoinnean for a place near Taynuilt, and an t-innean for Inion.
The place in question is by Innean a’ Chromain, ‘anvil of the kite’. The English form is a plural reflecting he two places Innean Mòr and Beag.
