This name was gathered as part of a local research project on the place-names of the Rough Bounds of Lochaber and was published in a booklet by SNH and AÀA. The Following quote appears in that booklet:
“The Road to the Isles leads now to Arisaig, and it is here we take a detour around Rhu or Ru Arisaig or Rubha Àrasaig, ‘the promontory of Arisaig’. The name has come to name the whole peninsula in the same way Ardnamurchan originally only denoted the area round Ardnamurchan lighthouse.”
