This is the ‘Ros of Fife’. Taylor suggests the initial F- was reduced in the consonant cluster -sf-, but in any case Fhìobh would be lenited now in the genitive.

Forms such as Ros Suidhe, and Ros Saidhe, are seen in circulation, but these come from a folk etymology originating from Duilleagan a Leabhar cunntas ar Beatha anns a’ Ghadhalltachd bho 1848 gu 1861, 1868, 15.
