“So named in honour of his wife by Munro who after 1780 bought the estate previously called Ardoch, or the Gordon’s of Ardoch becoming extinct.” Robertson MS357, 96.
Additional Information
Although Watson says this was once called Ardoch, present maps show Ardoch somewhat North East of Poyntzfield and Poyntzfield Mains. Old Ross and Balnagown Documents no. 359 says the new name was coined in 1766.
