Sources
This name was gathered as part of a local research project on the place-names of Colonsay and Oronsay and was published in a booklet by SNH and AÀA. The Following quote appears in that booklet:
“Eilean nan Ròn off the south coast of Oronsay contains a ruined house called Taigh nan Ceilpearan ‘the house of the kelpers’; it was last used in the 19th-century when kelp was gathered there. Mills were an important feature on Colonsay; An Seann Mhuileann ‘the old mill’ was fed by water from Loch Sgoltair and produced flour. The last miller (John McNeill) used a nearby shed to make coffins as he was also the island joiner.”
