Additional Information
This Distinct from Finnart point on Loch Sriven and Finard near Strone by Holy Loch. There is no place called Finart now, but it was presumably at the foot of Glenfinart. See Watson 307 and 498, who gives Fionnaird as the form for different places with a similar name.
If the two old forms in –fort are taken as authentic, the name could reflect *Fionnfhaird.
