Additional Information
“Connected with the same Loch Glassie, another story of a more familiar type in Highland folk-lore used to be, and possibly still is, told further down the strath, and we may conclude with a rehearsal of it. Loch Glassie, apparently takes its name from the farm of Glassie, perched on the shoulder of Weem Rock, about 1000 feet above the level of the sea. The farm is about 700 feet above the level even of the strath below. Like the neighbouring name Cluny, which is a locative case from “cluain,” a meadow or grassy place, Glassie is no doubt also a locative case, probably from “glass,” green, from which comes “glasach,” lea-land.” Article by Robertson in the Highland News March 3rd 1900
