The meaning unclear. It seems likely that the name is a settlement name derived from a river-name, since it is situated near the Divach Burn. There are other names of this type: Allt Dibheach, and possible the Divie, both in Speyside. While dibheach means ‘ant’, it is more likely these river-names relate in some way to dubh, ‘black’.
