“Brac Stein: the arm of Stein, a curved or crooked and projecting portion of land, somewhat arm-like.Given as Brae Stein, but this may be a mistake.” Forbes p.89
Additional Information
Despite what Forbes says about brac, Brae has been on maps since at least 1880 and is interpreted here as ‘Brae of Steinn’. The Sòdhaigh source was aware brac was the original, but the proposed name is now currently in use.
