“BUARBLAIC (G. Buarblaig) is, perhaps, more difficult to account for than any other name in the district. The suggestion has been made that it might consist of three Norse words, borg + bol + vik, meaning fort-steading-bay.’ This derivation seems, however, to be a trifle farfetched.”: Henderson 1915, 156
