Additional Information
This is by Meall Druidhe. The Gaulish name Druentios is suggested by Isaac, 2006 as perhaps cognate with *dru- ‘oak’ , although Nicolaisen et al cite Old European/IE *dreu , ‘drip’. The question here is whether the name is now derived, or thought to derive from G drùidh, ‘penetrating, oozing’ . This seems the most likely derivation, and would be cognate with Allt and Lairig Dhrù in Badenoch. |
