Additional Information
The name in Sàr-obair says in a footnote “a title formerly in Strathmore, now extinct”. Since Airlie is in Strathmore, it would seem this is a reference to the Earl of Airlie.
It would seem there are two competing forms for Airlie Arlath and Earlaidh. Earlaidh was chosen as it is close to a form gathered by Diack and also appears in poetry.
